The legendary Italian baseball player Giulio Glorioso died Friday June 19, 2015 at the age of 84 in Rome. He was the symbol of a generation and the first true baseball star in Italy. The Italian and European baseball mourns his death. A moment of silence will be held on every Italian baseballfield this weekend.
On Monday, July 2, 2001, he threw together with fellow former pitcher Han Urbanus the first pitch at the WPT Baseball before the historic match between the Netherlands and Italy (it was the 100th game between both teams). This duo was on July 10, 1956 facing each other in the first game, which was lost during the European championship and was won by Orange 13-2.
